Dragon Age Origins: Awakening

From the Makers of the Best RPG of 2009, Dragon Age: Origins, comes the first official expansion pack. For centuries, the Grey Wardens - the ancient order of guardians, sworn to unite and defend the lands - have been battling the darkspawn forces. Legend spoke that slaying the Archdemon would have put an end to the darkspawn threat for centuries to come, but somehow they remain. You are the Grey Warden Commander and have been entrusted with the duty of rebuilding the order of Grey Wardens and uncovering the secrets of the darkspawn and how they managed to remain. How you choose to rebuild your order, how you resolve the conflict with "The Architect", and how you determine the fate of the darkspawn will be but some of the many complex choices that await and shape your journey as you venture to the new land of Amaranthine.

I played it on the Xbox 360, and I don't know why people are giving it bad reviews honestly. I'd not say it's the greatest expansion ever, but it's worth it to get it. If you would rather just have the game and all the expansions, get the Ultimate Edition instead, it's even more worth it!

I loved this add on. It really was great and continued the great Dragon Age story. Dragon Age 2 makes more sense now since some of the characters are from Awakening. Get the add on. I definitely was not disappointed and I don't see why everyone else didn't like it? There isn't lag, no glitching from what I see and a great story continuation and more great gameplay. Great DA addition

I bought Awakening on the day of release and I was truly disappointed, and I would never recommend buying this to anyone. It's a complete waste, the story only lasts like 3 hours and you're done, and it's pretty dumb atop that. My suggestion? Stick to the original game.

Very very boring. The story was terrible, combat was terrible, and all around just very poor. The customization was slack, the voice acting was horrid, and the visuals was just blah. Don't get this game. You'd be better off playing the recommended games under this post.

I love Origins which I am playing through with my fifth character! I was very excited to get the expansion pack to continue the storylines of my old characters, but I was disappointed with the new game after about 15 minutes of play. It lacks everything I love about the first game. There is very little interaction between the characters- you can't even start a conversation unless it is needed for the game. It is also too short and many of the missions wouldn't work for me. I am assuming that I missed a character that was supposed to join my party (elf?) because I had gifts that didn't seem right for the other paty members. However, a main mission wasn't working properly, and I was forced to skip it. (I ran across a lot of glitches.) The changes with the weapons and armor were not impressive. There was very limited exploration, and the character was directed to complete the missions in order. You didn't have much freedom to stop or start which ever missions you felt like doing. I beat it very quickly with one character, and I don't think I'm going to play it again. I hope the next one is more like Origins; otherwise, I am not going to buy it!

So if you loved Dragon Age: Origins and just wished to continue the story of your favorite character, like me, undoubtedly you were excited about this expansion. Well please allow me to crush your hopes and dreams. lol I seriously think they threw this thing together in maybe 2 weeks. The quality is putrid. Graphics fuzz up constantly. My character's arms, literally, got stuck sticking out straight haha PERMENENTLY. The sound is the worst part of the whole game. It goes in and out every 5 mins or so. Lag happened in Origins, but Awakening makes Origins look flawless in that category. Sure you get lots of new abilities and spells, but since the they didn't change the interface, which was designed only to suit a handful of talents, you can still reasonably only use a certain amount (without triggering and pausing the fight every 2 secs, which is a bad combination with the lag). If your character is a mage then that won't bother you too much, but if you're a rogue or a warrior it's going to be really annoying. In all seriousness, they really didn't bother to make this expansion any good. So don't bother buying it. Just wait for the REAL new Dragon Age coming out next year. I'd rather have a good quality 5hr expansion than a 100 hour poor quality one like this one. And its only 13 hours long, tops.

Let me start by saying that it is a must buy for anyone who's played DA:O, but it was honestly kind of disappointing. Glitches were left and right, tons of lag, and I seriously think that like the creators of the story just died because the ending felt like I was just left hanging. Perhaps it was done on purpose for DA2 but wow. Length wasn't very good at all, finished within the first day of purchase. The new characters were very very fun and I really liked the way you encountered them. The whole can't interact with your companions thing though kinda made me feel like they just didn't want to put the time into it so they just left it out because the really should have, i think that was unfair. Graphics are still good, I don't know why people have complained about the graphics, I mean sure it's not final fantasy graphics good, but I think they sacrificed some of the real enhanced graphics because it's a really detailed game and has multiple ways of taking on certain situations and it's just more in depth. Difficulty was beyond easy, didn't even have a single character fall the entire time I played it, but it made it more fun cause I felt unstoppable. Sound was good except for the areas that had zero battle sound which i think are two places within the game. Story was very good until the end, felt like they rushed it. In the end it's a must buy for DA fans but it's very short, and lacks towards the end.

It sounds like an ok expansion for the game but with the glitches and the shortness of the game do you feel that the price tag was way too steep ?

Trustfall!
The storyline of this game was interesting to me,but it was way too short. It took me only 8 or 9 hours to beat this game. I wasted **$ dollars on it. The map for the game was also way too small with only about 5 or 6 different places to travel. The other parts to this game were fun, but it needed to be way longer than this. Hopefully when EA and Bioware make another one it will be long and more place to travel. I would not really recommend this to anyone. This was a rip off to me. Also i don't know if this has happened to anyone else playing this game, but while playing on my PlayStation 3 i noticed that sometimes when a character was talking to you, you couldn't hear anything they were telling you. Once i again i would not recommend this game because for how short it is it should only be about **$. Once again if they make another dao i hope they fix all of these problems

I'm a great fan of anything Bioware and Dragon Age Awakening struck me as a bit odd in places but it was nonetheless a fun game especially if you're a fan of Dragon Age Origins and you'd like to see the next step in the story line. There were some interesting choices throughout the storyline that I think greatly benefited the game but I wanted to see a bit more concerning choices that were made in Origins being carried over. Besides that if you enjoyed the combat and the mechanics from Origins that you'll be glad to know there are virtually no changes save the new spells and abilities with the specializations. The new characters each bring something new to the table but I have to say I wish more of the original party made a return. (No disrespect to Oghren.) To me I think it boils down to the fact that this could have been either a bit longer story wise or they could have just held back and diverted the energy to Dragon Age II. If you're looking to continue your character in the DA universe than this is a game for you but you couldn't hurt yourself waiting for a price drop or finding it preowned. Otherwise I suggest hunkering down and waiting for the sequel.

Ok this expansion is pretty good but it is way to short. Its not worth the $** to buy a game thats only 6-7 hours long. Its a complete rip-off. The story and everything is fine but the length is ridiculous. For the main plot you have to complete 3 missions then decide to save the city or the keep, and then you fight the final boss, thats it. It took me around 6 hours the beat the whole game. The companions that you get are cool but I prefer the ones from Origins, and your not even able to talk to them. It seems to me that they didn't really put alot of time into this game. And the ending to Origins doesnt even play into Awakening, like if at the end of Origins you convince some of your party to stay with and you import your character to Awakening, what happens to the people you convinced to stay with you? The point is that if your looking for an awesome RPG with alot of play-time and a good story that has a good price, this game is not for you. Trust me on this, dont waste $** on this game. Hopefully Dragon Age 2 will be longer and have a better story.

I've been eagerly awaiting this game since January, and the day it hit the shelves, I bought it. I honestly don't have anything bad to say about it. Though, there are some things I am disappointed about. The number one being that there is not much interaction between party members like in Origins. I thought the characters were interesting, and I would have liked to be able to know more about them. And being the hopless romantic that I am, I would have loved a wee bit of romance. The only other thing that really disappointed me was the length. I thought it just kind of... ended. It didn't even feel like an ending to me. I expected more, but then all of a sudden I was reading an epilogue. I know it's just an expansion and not a full on sequel to DA:O, but I still felt it could have maybe had a few more plot quests. Regardless, I still found it fun to play, and I am still going to import my other characters and play through it again. I believe I got my money's worth. I just hope if there is another expansion, it's a tad longer and has more character interaction.

I trying t make this have very little spoliers but here it goes. I loved the original Dragon Age but this expansion fell short. My biggest complaint is that you don’t get that much of real game play in it. I beat the game within about 8-10 hours. The story is all right you have 6 main plot points in it starting with your character rescuing Vigil's Keep which is extremely short. Then you choose which of the three areas you get to go . After completing the three main quest areas you have to defend the Vigils keep or the city (relatively short). You lastly get to deal with the Mother and that’s the game (another small segement). There are some small miscellanies quest you can do along the way but I think 40 dollars is a lot of money for such a short amount of game play. Also if you upload your character from Dragon Age one you might found a few surprises like your missing weapons like starfang and in some of my characters their armor is gone. You also in my option do not get to have more interaction with the other characters dialoged. On the positive side however the game has the same controls/ game play/ graphics sound are all good just like the original. There are a few different specialization you can choose from along with some cool new skills. The characters that you can have on your team are all right but I prefer the other ones better. Asuming they live through the jioning. The story itself is good but short. At the end of the day However I would suggest you get it once the price drops to around 20-25. In the meantime I would just buy a new game for ten dollars more such as the god of war 3. Hope this was helpful.

If you are a Dragon Age fan this is for you and if not you may want to think about becoming one. This is one of the best RPGs on the PS3. I love to be able to customize and buy and aquire different gear in my RPGs and Dragon Age is one of the best games out at alowing a player to do that. Also it has a amazing combat system that alows you to get into the action more. So if you haven't started Dragon Age now is a perfect time to start an amazing adventure that will keep you glued to your TV for hours, all I can say is amazing series and I can't wait to see what DLC they come out with. Both Dragon Ages are well worth the money and the time for all types of players. This is one of the best stories and series out and you really get a bang for your buck with all the play time and story you can play. So don't wait any longer go out and get Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age Origins: Awakening, you will not regreat it !!!!!!

The first trailer i saw was the "This is War" trailer and I thought I had to have it. I got it and i'm on my second playthrough because i'm in love with it. The story is incredible. The characters are well planned. The battles make it seem like you are truly there. I've never been so fascinated with a video game before. I am beyond excited for awakening and I hope this is just a first to many expansions..
